Wu-Chang Records was a Los Santos-based record label that is owned by Mr. Kebun, Lollypop, and Party Hardy.

Founded in 2019, Wu-Chang was the oldest and largest of the mainstream record labels in the city and possess a large library. It has produced many of the most popular songs on the radio and supported some of the most successful artists in Los Santos.

History[]

Origins[]

Wu-Chang Records was founded in 2019 by Mr. Kebun (then known as Mr. Chang) & Vinny Pistone. The label was named after then Chang Gang leader, Mr. Chang.

Vinny and Mr. Chang unofficially signed Lil Erf as the label's first artist, after the debut of his hit song "Guerilla Warfare (Chang Gang)" in March 2019. (see below)

Restructure[]

On September 11, 2022, the now former label manager Harry Martinez proposed a staffing restructure of Wu-Chang to Mr. Kebun, to which he approved. The restructure moved around important employees, and made Harry the CEO. Around this time, Wu-Chang also began offering life time contracts as a way to reward the most loyal label artists, who have stayed with the label through good times and rough times. Due to Harry's work, Wu-Chang went from being dependent on CG to a self running Label. After his departure, Party Hardy was voted in unanimously as the next CEO. Holding the biggest events in the company's history and furthering its extensive legacy in major fashion.

Wu-Chang Phase 1[]

In January of 2024, an artist by the name of Lollypop approached Mr. K on the idea of making his own label. Mr. K told him to help revive Wu-Chang, which only had a tiny studio in his own house, and he agreed. Mr. K decided to work out an agreement with Lollypop to house new Wu-Chang artists next door to him in a Section K Real Estate house.

On the 19th of February, Mr. K gave Party Hardy 15% ownership after he asked for 20% and fully committed to Wu-Chang. Afterwards, Lollypop and Party led the return concert on the 22nd. This concert was a massive success and showcased all of Wu-Chang's new talent.

Near the end of March 2024, Mr. K removed the Wu-Chang home and turned it into a Weed house for CG, with plans on moving the studio into another building in the future.

On the 17th of May, Mr. K bought a Commercial Storefront for 668k in the Southside, and tasked Arrowhead with decorating it. He decorated free of cost and handed it over to Mr. K in early June.

On June 3rd, Party held a company meeting at the Storefront, crowning the new executives. This marked a new stage in the business called Wu-Chang Phase 2, in the New WU era.

Wu-Chang Phase 2[]

The Wu-Chang Storefront became the new base of operations. The label became a partner for Pride 2024's celebration and helped organize it across the city. Afterwards, Wu-Chang held grand opening for their storefront to a great reception from the city. They also helped organize and performed at the Abyss Nightclub's openings. In difficult times with Los Santos politics, further events were planned for the next few months, to continue proving Wu-Chang Records is the world's leading record label.

Weekly events throughout July and August, led into Wu-Chang Masquerade III. This was one of the biggest concerts for the city in years and secured a $200,000 grant from the Los Santos Mayor's Office. After hosting this, Party Hardy made deals to work with the city's administration, in hopes of bringing a golden age for the music industry.

Wu-Chang Phase 3[]

Party Hardy's pleas with the government paid off, in full, with a $4,000,000 payment. This money went towards the payments of employees, events, and the purchase of two buildings. Wu-Chang Records was now based out of an office and club, both next to each other in Vespucci. This area was named the "Wu-Plaza" by Max Biggaveli.

In November, the WuChella festival returned, again across two weeks, and four days. This festival included all of the Wu-Chang stars and was the precursor for the NoPixel Music Awards in December. At the start of the new year, Wu-Chang was declared inactive, and Party started Party Records in its place.
