The Pack is a gang formed by Lennon Lee in Bolingbroke Penitentiary. It is formerly a prison gang.
Origins[]
After Shank Jackson mentioned that the prisoners would eventually segregate into their own groups during the first lifer meeting, Lennon took it upon himself to accept the inevitable and form the first prison lifer gang.
Once the meeting was finished, Lennon gathered some of the inmates he trusted the most and took them to the roof to discuss his idea. Marty Holiday and Allen Jones were quick to agree with this plan, with name ideas coming immediately after. The group went through several names before finally settling on "The Pack." The name would take advantage of the city's view on prisoners being comparable to animals. Not only did the name do this, group tradition did as well. Every member sworn into the group would be given an animal title from Lennon himself in a ritual on the roof of the cafeteria. The animal naming ritual has since been abandoned and was replaced with the tattoo ritual that takes place in the Cell Block 7 showers. After Lang Buddha performed a smuggling operation to get The Pack their kuttes, each blooded-in member now receives their jacket after the tattoo is completed.
A long time after these events and after Lennon's release from Bolingbroke, Lennon grew to miss being a leader and being the Alpha of his Pack. This motivated him to seek out new members, people who could replace what he had lost from his departure from jail. After some time, he found his first four members and built The Pack from the ground up once again.
Motives[]
Despite being a gang formed in prison, Lennon sees it as his family, hence why he dislikes it being labeled as a gang. The group was formed to establish the first close, working bond amongst some of the trusted and active lifers while also making it easier for outsiders to find inmates they can trust in the prison. Over time, The Pack has evolved into a close family of what Lennon describes to be "blood brothers and sisters" who would fight on the "front lines" with him.
The core motives of The Pack have changed many times over the course of its ongoing lifespan. In the beginning, its purpose was to be the branch between outsiders dealing with those on the inside and regulate prison smuggling deals. However, due to the close bond that Lennon and Marty have formed with the current Pack members, business is just a perk, the Pack family, its friends and the chaos they bring to the world is all that matters.
The Pack has also become incredibly close with groups such as the Cleanbois, The Guild and several others. On top of growing themselves in power, The Pack also serves to give these groups an easier time in prison by smuggling out useful contraband and passing off items they may need in the prison during their stays.
