Liu Shang Sun Chen, aka Shang Liu, is a character role-played by BaRKy.
General Description[]
Shang Liu is the Vice Prime Minister of the Already Dead MC.
He was made Chief of Police for the Los Santos Police Department on the 2nd of August 2024 by Mayor Nino Chavez. His 60-second term had the best approval ratings with no complaints lodged or DAPs given under his leadership.
Shang is a triple threat—deadly with a gun, quick behind the wheel, and a master of all hacks he gets his hands on. In the city, no hack has ever stood in his way, yet.
Overview[]
Shang Liu is a figure supposedly hailing from Shenzhen, China. Not much is known about him aside from his strong distaste for electric cars, people who take issue with his culture, and Japanese things.
He was a Prospect for the Bondi Boys MC. Five years ago, BBMC underwent a RICO investigation which led to a standoff between LSPD and BBMC. Many members were sent to jail or deported, while a few escaped. Shang spent two years in jail. After he served his time, he spent three years as a pirate sailing the coasts of South Africa.
Appearance[]
He has an spade tattoo under his left eye, a self-drawn fish on his neck, and is rarely ever seen without his signature circular John Lennon glasses on, fully believing that they look cool.
He is described as having a smile that's too large for his face, with 'too many teeth for his mouth'. He is rarely, if ever, seen not smiling, having been remarked by the PD as someone who will probably even die with a smile plastered on his face.
He had a thick East-Chinese accent, yet claims to never hear it unless someone makes fun of him for it, in which case he may swear at them in Cantonese. His accent has faded considerably as the years have passed.
Personality[]
Shang is a carefree and charismatic individual who thrives on wit and charm. He prefers to talk his way out of trouble, often playing the fool to suit his own agenda. For him, charisma is a far more powerful weapon than any gun, and he masterfully navigates every situation by exploiting every possible angle before ever considering brute force.
Shang will start dancing at random, normally imploring others to get involved wherever possible, and typically providing the 'music' with his own singing. It's unclear why this happens, though he claims it to be a medical illness.
Shang either has a terrible memory, or chooses not to care about names, and so assigns everyone a nickname that is simply their most blatant character trait, combined with some part of their name.
Shang's dream is to be the freest person in the world.
History[]
Shang's history is largely unknown. What is known is that he spent time in Hong Kong, before making his way to Los Santos.
Throughout his time in Los Santos, Shang often made cryptic comments about his past over his years in the city, hinting at a mysterious and troubled history. His true background remains unconfirmed, but several interactions provide glimpses into his life before his escape:
- With Barry during the Sanguine Prison Arc: Shang revealed he grew up in a community that had "Remade their own sunlight." When asked for more details, he uncharacteristically fell silent. This is likely a reference to hydroponic grow lamps.
- With Kelly during the Sanguine Prison Arc: He shared that his upbringing left him no choice but to comply, or face beatings. Though initially joked off as strict parenting, he later mentioned having to wear metal bindings.
- With Winston during a time where Winston had imbibed cocaine, lean and weed, Shang mentioned that he had seen all manners of drug cocktails, but no withdrawal made people as vicious as opium did. He went on to joke that he 'suffered the wrath a few too many people seeking it out in desperation'.
- With Finn during the Sanguine Prison Arc: Shang compared his childhood institution to the prison, vowing never to be permanently caged again.
- With Rosabel: He confided that the only colors he could clearly see were red and purple, due to the "lighting back home," now known to refer to growing lamps. Later, on a date, he expressed his rare appreciation for lazily sitting under the sun, having had few such opportunities in his youth. In a fight, he likened her presence to a mental chain, reminiscent of the physical ones he once wore.
- When speaking on the topic of Meth to Rue Shang mentioned that when he was done his learning for the day that he 'wouldn't have much of a choice but to go help grow some things at an Uncle's farm'.
- Post-economic rapture with Kelly: Shang mentioned an uncle's opium farm and revealed that his father gave him his facial scar for not working hard enough there.
- With TJ: He recounted visiting the opium farm of his youth during his time away, finding it now replaced by a parking lot, which he remarked was a 'fitting improvement for the residents'
- With Flop Dugong: Shang described being forced to live in an area underground, chained by the neck, under the "purple haze that replaced the sun with machines." A reference to the grow lamps often used by farmers. He cherished the brief glimpses of the world through a small window that opened to a nearby street, and the snatches of conversation he overheard.
- With Esmerelda Razer: Shang told Esme that no chain would ever be put around his neck 'again'. Then went on to tell her that she should never let a physical, or a mental one, be put around her.
These fragmented accounts suggest Shang endured a form of indentured servitude, though the full extent of his suffering remains ambiguous. He has never explicitly confirmed these details, often masking his revelations with humor. The trauma of which never having been revealed in their full light.
Life in ADMC[]
Shang Liu was invited by Barry Benson to join the club and accepted on the 9th of January 2024. Successfully Blooded in on the 13th of January 2024. Promoted to Road Captain on the 16th of April 2024. He was promoted to High Command on the 12th of June 2024.
In Barry’s frequent absence, Shang has naturally taken on the role of ADMC’s de facto leader, with Barry only spending a few days in the city each month. Known for his stern but fair leadership, Shang allows members the freedom to pursue their own ambitions, even if it means letting them "touch their hands on the stove." His relentless drive has secured valuable resources for ADMC, ensured the club operates with efficiency, and provided members with the funds needed to organize activities within the city.
Beyond leadership, Shang’s ambition knows no bounds, both for himself and for ADMC. In under a year, he rose from patch member to High Command and now sets his sights on the Vice President role, stating that although he doesn't want the role, he feels he can do it better than anyone else currently. He has worked tirelessly to keep ADMC’s members well-trained and vigilant, preparing them to face the harsh realities of their lifestyle and remain ready for war at a moment’s notice.

Quotes[]
When asked by the police officer Coyote why he did not want justice for TJ Walker's death: 'Justice? That's your justice, because you, and the rest of your shallow formed government, 'won' in the end. The definition of justice is created by the victors, that is not my justice. I stand by my own morals, I follow my own code, and I take my own justice. And that justice is simple, that justice is revenge. No bars, no fines, no chains, no dues, no tolls. A pound of flesh was taken, and a pound of flesh was returned. Justice has been served.'
'There're three of you, and one of me, I'm no gambling man but I fancy those odds.'
'War? There's no need for conflict. We stand here declaring war on pointless fighting itself, but if you push me for war, give me a gun and I'll end it by myself'
'Watch your tone when you're talking to me, I'm not a dog you're going to scold for stealing food.'
'So much blood was spilt that little canal of theirs ran red! Bitch I'm Shaka Zulu!'
