Samantha Sanders is a character role-played by WildflowerWonder.
General Description[]
Samantha Sanders, J.D. is a former Attorney with the Department of Justice. Samantha has been invited as a full managing partner for Siobhan's law firm should Samantha ever obtain a Bar license in San Andreas again.
Background Information[]
Currently[]
Samantha has made a promise to her mentor and spiritual guardian Siobhan Fitzpatrick to 'stay in San Andreas' for six months to find herself. In that time, she has attempted to get a BAR license (which has failed), has run for the City Council for the Civilian Oversight Board (which failed), and reconnect with two people she loves (Kurt Doug and Lara VanDusk; both failed). In that time, with immense failures now behind her, she's started to 'hang out' with Ophelia Flowers to see if she fits in with Fey and the Already Dead MC; Samantha, expecting failure, is not creating any expectations and just existing as she is.
Prior to her return to San Andreas[]
Samantha was born in Chicago, Illinois, where she was raised as a part of a long-standing prestigious family, particularly due to their business and legal prominence. The family's main businesses involved meat packing plants and various other entrepreneurial ventures in and around Chicago. The Sanders family, however, lost most of their prestige in 1871, when the Great Chicago Fire tore most of the family's businesses venues and surrounding structures. It was commonly believed that the fire itself was the cause of the family's sudden financial troubles and ruin, however in truth the Sanders family was involved in under-the-table debts, which had to be repaid once the fires struck.
Only in the last decade has the Sanders family returned to their former prestige, mostly due to the efforts of the family matriarch, Samantha's grandmother. It was also due to her that Samantha was inspired to attend law school, to help the family and their fishing business around Chicago. Sam first studied in Los Santos, attending the University of San Andreas, Los Santos and earning a Bachelor's Degree in Business in 2010 at age 21. After her grandmother's pressures, she went on to study at the Columbia Law School, where she earned her Juris Doctorate three years later in 2014. Despite her success at such a young age, Samantha struggled with refinement in law; her trainings and apprenticeships with various law firms often ended in abject failure, and while she had the drive to succeed, her skills needed honing.
Samantha found a life in Liberty City during her law school years, where she joined the Legal4U, LLP as an internship in her 1l Summer. She worked as a law clerk, and was responsible for managing and preparing documents and case files, research, and background analysis for more than ten cases at a time. After this internship concluded, Samantha joined Northram and Goldberg, LLP, as an Associate specializing in Insurance Defense. Increasing her workload to more than 40 cases at a time, Samantha worked there for three years, before she fell out of favor with the company after failing numerous large cases. In an attempt to hide her shame, and move forward without her past looming over her, Samantha moved to Los Santos in an attempt to start anew.
Before the Collapse[]
During her time in San Andreas prior to the Government Collapse, Samantha's name grew to be notorious in the Department of Justice/3.0. She was ruthless and beloved and hated. She moved from being a failed fixer and defense attorney to working with the Unified Police Department/3.0 as an Assistant State Attorney, alongside Odessa Glafx as her mentor in an attempt to work a more noble path within the Major Crimes Unit. Notable cases include:
- Winston Walker v. Ziggy Buggs and Flop Dugong - Civil case on Walker's side; won in full favor of the plaintiff
- The People v. Kayn Larp, Terrance Walker, Marty Banks, and Ony Pushkin - Criminal Case regarding a live stream of the murder of then Commissioner Axel Justice.
- The People v. Capped Tarranova - Criminal Case involving Pigeon's infamous persona of The Columbian
- The People v. Simon Riley - Criminal Case regarding the forced injection of drugs into government employees; namely EMS
- The People v. Georgina Williams - Criminal Case to prosecute the murder of Sooty Gamwich's mother.
- The People v. Lapis La'pus, Cuddles Fish, Neil McReal, and Minerva Maat - Criminal Case involving the Goon School/3.0's growth of marijuana at University of San Andreas, Los Santos/3.0. Samantha dropped less than 24 hours after the filing due to political alliances.
Sirens wailed over the State of San Andreas as the snowstorm picked up; flurries and winds blinded and pressed against everyone and everything. The haunting echo cascaded over the waves and touched the windows of the commercial jet headed to the mainland US. It’s been years since the United States had seen such a drastic cold front but, now, it’s even affecting tropical islands and outlying areas. Samantha Sanders turned her head up and looks towards the back of the plane as the wind around the plane itself picked up. The crackling of the intercom came through. “Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your captain speaking; we have received warnings from LSIA that the cold front has official picked up to a red class storm. We should be able to outfly it but, in case of emergencies, be sure to focus on what your attendants instruct to keep us all safe.” Murmurs sputtered through the crowd as Sam, presumably just comfortable in her business class seat, shifted uncomfortably in her seat. She sipped her tea while her hands shook in fear. The last year had been a rollercoaster. In truth, however, Samantha found that it all ended in her trusting people too much. She opened her heart too quickly, to the wrong people, at the wrong times. The one person she could trust, however, was her mom. She finally had her stuff prepped to be shipped from San Andreas back to Chicago. With the storm, however, who knows? A few weeks after her arrival back in Chicago, Samantha had connected with some old friends and colleagues. She had no love for business anymore but, because of the State Attorney's Office and Odessa Glafx she had pursued her dream job. She refused to give it up and applied, and applied. Working contractual work for firms after a few months she received her ADA offer for the Cook County’s State Attorney’s Office. She brought her cold heart and focus on hiding away once more in her career. Samantha denied date after date. She made friends in her colleagues and other officers. In all this she rarely found happiness outside her work. She was drowning herself in subpoenas and motions for months. Just like Mary Mushkin said, stepping on everyone and finding your dream was worth it. Right? Expensive heel clack after clack the attorney made her way up the political legal ladder of the CCSAO. All the while watching her guilty pleasure; the reconstruction and preparation on the reopening of San Andreas’ border. She kept in contact with others, sure, but it was mostly hollow. The ASA did what she did best and social media stalked those she cared most for that lived there when she did. She dreamt about those moments back where she found her home. In truth she missed those moments. Ever given the chance again she’d find her way back into it all. The blood and chaos. She’d do what she could to pursue her legal passions once more somewhere she could pursue finding her real dream. After years and as an expert in her field she arguably never found it. Her job was a dream, yes, but why wasn’t she happy? This time around, she’d find it without compromise or loss of composure. |
