Background[]
Patrick originally moved to Los Santos in order to desensitized himself from his fear of guns, due to a traumatic event from his past. However, he quickly realized that life in Los Santos only lead to him to being even more afraid of them than he ever was before. He needs all the help he can get to help him out, and that won't be an easy task, as he is really shy when it comes to meeting new people.
After 2 years, he has finally overcome his fear and is now legally allowed to carry. But carrying is one thing, and he will only use his gun to scare people away. He straight up refuses to shoot. No matter who it is. He still has anxiety issues whenever he holds the weapon in his hand and gets real nervous.
Unfortunately, one day, he witnessed someone wave a gun around without a valid reason and it made him regress completely. He's fine if the gun is holstered or on someone's back, but if it's in somebody's hands, he is likely to dip or hide.
Patrick is the only person in the city, other than his boss (and grandfather) Lang Buddha, who is allowed to eat for free for life at Roosters Rest.
The Past[]
On July 20th, 1997, Patrick's best friend Fanny Gauthier came over to Patrick's house while their parents were away. She brought a gun with her, cause she thought it was cool. Patrick was reluctant to even touch it, but after Fanny reassured him the security was on and it wasn't loaded, he decided to agree to play around with it. As he played around with the firearm, pretending to shoot it by actually pulling the trigger, a sudden 'click' sound was heard. Spooked, he dropped the gun on the floor, and the impact fired the one and only bullet in the barrel. It hit Fanny in the forehead and she instantly died.
Patrick's and Fanny's parents came home to this horrifying image, and they drew the conclusion that Patrick murdered her. Despite his explication, he was ignored. Police showed up and all the evidence was against him, no matter how hard he tried to explain what truly happened.
He was sent to a juvenile center where he was to serve his entire teenage years and then some. While in juvie, he was basically left in a room and barely fed or given water or even allowed to see anyone, and the only people he ever saw would just remind him of what he did. He was let go from juvie on his 18th birthday, but it was to be transferred, which nobody told him. So he just walked away, and moved out, knowing that if he stayed, everyone would just reject him. He moved around for quite some time, until one day he decided to move to Los Santos, and stay there.

To this day, as of the end of 3.0, there are only 8 people in the entire city who have been made aware of Patrick's tragic past: Petunia Brookshire, Gerard "Dewey" Hawthorne, Tessa Lamb, Kiki Pendragon, Scarlet Rose, SunHee Kim, Alec Virken, and Kenzie Lynn-Hytes.
