Background[]
Octavia Knox’s (commonly referred to her friends and colleagues as Knox, 'OK' or 'Okay') mother and father met 30 years ago in Canada while in the military.
Once pregnant with OK, they decided to retire from the military and move to Los Santos to pursue post military careers – OK’s dad as an officer in the LSPD (previously 10 years in the Canadian Armed Forces [CAF] and retired as Captain), and her mom as an EMS (previously combat medic in the CAF for 3 years). They both had great aspirations to help the young city of Los Santos using their previous experience and expertise in their fields.
However, tragedy stuck the family 15 years into their lives in Los Santos, as her father was shot and killed during an armed robbery gone wrong when she was only 15 years old. Distraught by the violent nature of his death and the lack of faith in the policing and judicial system in catching the perpetrators, her mother took both OK and her little brother back to Canada in hopes of fostering a safe environment for her kids that her and her husband previously grew up in (Huntsville, ON).
At the age of 19, Octavia made the choice to follow her parent’s footsteps and join the military. Unlike her father (Artillery Officer) and mother (Combat Medic), OK remained far from the front lines as she pursued the role of an Intelligence Officer. Always afraid of being in the vicinity of lethal fire, she maintained that such a role allowed her to be a vital member of the army while maintaining a safe distance from the tragedies of war firsthand. However, she retired from the military after 5 years as the bureaucracy of the military made her feel as though she was not able to make the impact she wanted to have during her tenure.
This led her to making the choice of joining the Huntsville Police Department (HPD) as a Financial Crimes Specialist, specializing in Fraud and Investigative work, while also coordinating with the Community Management and Administrative Support Department, where she analyzed police reports for quality assurance and developed crime prevention and community education programs to engage the community in crime prevention.
Tragedy would once again strike the Knox family, as her mother would unexpectedly pass away at the age of 54 due to a heart attack. Heart broken by the sudden loss of her mother and unable to find peace over her father’s passing 14 years prior, OK made the heavy decision to quit her job at the HPD after a five year tenure and moved back to Los Santos where it all began. With her father being a pivotal role model to her growing up, she felt like it was only right by her father’s and mother’s legacy to go back to where it all began and to start a life that she wished their family could have had when they first moved to Los Santos. While it remained a cold case to this very day, OK deeply believed that her father’s killer and his crew from 15 years ago may still be alive and living in Los Santos. Thus began OK’s journey in avenging her father and finding closure for her family.

Trivia[]
- Good at fraud and investigative work (intelligence gathering).
- Afraid to pull the trigger, in fear of taking someone away from their family, much like how the armed robbers took her father away from her family.
- Her brother Alec Knox (AK) remains estranged to this very day. She attributes this due to the traumatic nature of her father’s death who was very close to them both and after the loss of their mother, lost contact with her brother completely after the funeral. He is said to still be serving the military since the age of 19.
