Mickey S. is a character role-played by blau.

Background[]

Before Mickey S. flew to Los Santos, he was betrayed by his former cop detective partner, Tommy, and his ex-wife, Maggie Kayden, who cheated on him, shot him in the back and left him for dead. Though he does not discuss his background much , Mickey mentioned in conversations with Chang Gang how in the past, jobs would always end up going awry, resulting in the deaths of innocent individuals. When asked about Maggie, Mickey described her as intelligent and beautiful, and very capable of handling a gun; she was the type of woman you would want to soothe and hold tight in the moonlight. The gangsters - Ramee El-Rahman most of all - delighted in bringing the topic up and teasing him about losing her. While working undercover, Mickey was required to do things that would make even the most seasoned veterans of the night have their toes curl and eyes water. Mickey moved to the city with the intention of escaping his past and joining the criminal underworld to put his various skills to good use, beginning as a fireman stripper at the Vanilla Unicorn to eventually becoming the 6th Mayor of Los Santos.

Personality[]

Mickey is calm and collected. His hardened past and detective work has left him with a nihilistic outlook in life. Mickey is known as "Downbad" Mickey by most of Los Santos due to the fact that in most scenarios everything that could go wrong for him, inevitably, does. However, due to his ingrained stoicism, these repeated failures do not keep him from trying. Although Mickey can hack, his forte as a criminal is creating getaway plans, which are famously lengthy yet creative.

He started off wearing an expensive black suit and a fedora and telling his life stories, giving off a mysterious air. Now he typically dresses in suits, especially after Cerberus hired him as an intern and he decided to try to become a "hard" criminal, desiring for the organization to see him as more respectable.

Events[]

New Beginnings
Lost on his first day in Los Santos, Mickey ran into Vinny Pistone, Garret Jobless, Randy Bullet, and Ramee El-Rahman while jaywalking outside the Alta Vista Apartments. After telling the gangsters to watch where they were driving, the four Chang Gang members became exasperated and pulled over their car to speak with the man. When asked for his name, he replied that it was Mickey Smith. (However, Mickey would reveal years later that his surname S. was an abbreviation for Sinclaire.) Realizing that Mickey was a newcomer to the city, the gang let him be, but advised him to watch his mouth. Bemused by the former detective’s theatrical yet enigmatic air and grim life stories, Chang Gang took it upon themselves to educate Mickey on the criminal ways of the city. Accompanying them on hunting and fishing trips as well as various criminal activities, Mickey’s bond with the gangsters grew fast and on February 10th, 2021 he was formally acknowledged as an associate by Mr. K. Noticing his keen interest and enthusiasm for stylish getaway plans, K adopted him as his protégé and taught Mickey everything to know about heist planning.
He Can Go His Own Way

"They wanted me to stab you. How could they make me do that, Yuno?

On July 8th, 2021, Yuno Sykk, an old friend who shared Mickey's enthusiasm for outrageous schemes, randomly came up with an exciting yet unusual heist plan and proposed it to Mickey. The idea was to have everyone in the getaway, including the police, follow traffic regulations and switch over to BMX bikes in order to raise the suffering morale of the Los Santos Police Department. Mickey fell in love with the plan immediately, however, held a reservation about doing the job with Yuno.

Earlier that week, Yung Fierro — a Wu Chang Records artist — visited the Rooster's Rest in the hopes of organizing an event there. The head of security called Lang Buddha, who, due to a previous conflict from months prior, instructed Fierro to get the fuck off the premises of his establishment. Lang then punched the artist, prompting Chang Gang members to rush the restaurant and beat up two employees later that day.

Mickey was terrified and had good reason to believe that Mr. K would hurt, if not outright kill him, if he discovered Yuno and him messing around together when tensions between the two criminal groups were running high. Sensing his friend’s anxiety, Yuno reassured Mickey that if things went wrong he could always join the Cleanbois. The two mused about the pointlessness of wars and how there are no real victors in the end. Whilst setting up the getaway plan, Yuno proceeded to invite Nino Chavez and Lang Buddha onto the job, and when asked about their thoughts on the matter, they assumed the conflict to be resolved. This made Mickey feel slightly more at ease bringing on two additional Cleanbois and borrowing a green laptop dongle from the Chang Gang stash for the job.

After the fairly successful and fun heist, Yuno would be the one to return the green laptop dongle to Mr. K. Curious as to why a Cleanboi would have a Chang Gang laptop dongle and why they were learning of this information from an outsider rather than Mickey himself, Chang Gang began interrogating who Mickey’s true loyalties lied with and what other secrets he might be keeping. As punishment for fraternizing with the opposition during a time of conflict, the gangsters sat him down, then shot, tortured, and knocked the gangbanger unconscious at a warehouse before delivering him the order to kill his friend to demonstrate his commitment to Chang Gang. Several hours later, Mickey would run into Yuno with the gangsters at the Alta Street Apartments and move the two of them to a more secluded area beneath a highway underpass to warn him what was being demanded of him. Swiftly understanding the situation, Yuno collapsed to the ground in dramatic agony, giving the impression that Mickey made an attempt on his life from afar. Ramee El-Rahman, noticing the confrontation was taking far too long, shot Mickey down and bid Yuno a good night while Randy Bullet, Taco Prince and Mr. K loaded him into the trunk of a car, entirely ignoring the Cleanboi’s persistent allegations that he’d been stabbed. For the defiance of gang leader orders, K threw Mickey out of an airplane and into the courtyard of Clean Manor to complete the task once and for all.

While returning home in the early hours of the morning, Yuno almost ran over a barely conscious Mickey bleeding out in the Clean Manor driveway. Feeling somewhat responsible and not wanting to see his friend wounded and living in a constant state of fear, Yuno offered himself up and urged Mickey to reunite with his boys. Yuno explained that he wouldn’t have to execute the gutting wholly, Mickey would simply need to create a deep enough of a stab wound to indicate that an attempt on his life was made (while simultaneously avoiding any vital organs) to keep Chang Gang off of his back (at least for the time being). Mickey adamantly refused; he could live with his gang’s violence but he wouldn't be able to live with himself harming Yuno. Filled with concern, Yuno offered Clean Manor as a safe haven if Mickey needed a place to stay before helping him up to his feet and eventually parting ways, leaving Mickey to spend the day with the Cleanbois who provided him tea and conversation to find a semblance of serenity from the turmoil of the previous night.

After hours of soul searching, including conversations with Irwin Dundee, Nino Chavez and many others, Mickey pondered on the months of abuse and demeaning behavior directed towards him from members of Chang Gang. While Mickey continues to love the gangsters, he felt that the gang's core values and methods no longer aligned with his own and ultimately believed it was in his best interests to leave. Later that night over the phone, Mickey informed a baffled Randy Bullet — who was unable to comprehend why Mickey would leave his family, the criminals who raised him since the very first day he stepped into the city over something so trivial — that he didn’t know where he would go, but what he did know was that his mind was made up and he was officially out. The gangsters severed Mickey’s access to their properties and his belongings post-haste, allowing him to go in exchange for his silence. (In the few months Mickey associated himself with the gang, he had gotten into the inner circle where Mr. K divulged a good deal of the gang’s clandestine activities, making him more knowledgeable than many veteran members.) Hurt and betrayed by his abandonment, Chang Gang would ignore and harbor resentment towards him for what they perceived to be ungratefulness for the exceptional amount of trust that was placed in him.

Rumors of Mickey’s departure from his former gang rapidly spread across Los Santos and a number of gangs and criminal organizations expressed interest in taking him under their wing. However, Mickey would take to heart Nino and Dundee’s advice to remain a free agent and wait some time before making any definitive decisions regarding his future.

A C/_ean Path
Weeks passed since Mickey became a free agent. During this time, the former gangbanger utilized his newfound freedom to bounce between multiple heist crews as a freelance hacker and strategist. Given the circumstances surrounding his resignation from Chang Gang and his friendship with the Cleanbois, he was warmly received and frequently joined the group for impromptu heists and getaways.

Following Yuno Sykk's indefinite absence from the city, the Cleanbois' need for a hacker prompted an influx of offers. Joining the group of interested parties, on August 10th, 2021, Mickey requested a meeting with Lang Buddha and Harry Brown to deliver his formal application. Lang, who was anxious to get back into bank busting, accepted the highly anticipated application on the spot. Everyone appeared pleased with the latest addition to the family; save Raymond Romanov, who was cautious of the man.

This paved Mickey's path in becoming a Cleanboi and his relationships with the organization's members and associates - for the most part - strengthened over time. When Yuno returned to the city, Mickey taught him the new hacking system and restored the hacker to his former glory, stepping back and establishing himself as the heist crew's strategist and backup hacker in the process. In addition, Mickey took on the monumental task of improving the infamous CB comms and bringing the family closer together through a series of member-oriented heists. Furthering his interest in business, Mickey spearheaded the Clean Cartel Coke Operation as a recruiter and distributor. On September 29th, 2021, Mickey's portrait was added to the Clean Manor hallway, officially recognizing him as a member of the family.

Mentor/Mentee Reunion

"Ten years is a long time to be looking over my shoulder."

After Jean Paul bombed Chang Gang's annual Christmas party at the Vultur Lé Culturé Gallery, on December 20th, 2021, an intoxicated Mickey on vodka, who had been away from Chang Gang for almost half a year, finally had a much-needed talk with his former mentor when he and Yuno were sent down to broker peace between Chang Gang and the Cleanbois in Little Seoul.

A heartbroken Mr. K invited Mickey inside the compound to sit down and talk. He admonished Mickey for his decision to leave Chang Gang after everything he provided him, but also admitted to having missed a competent heist planner in the family. But the warm reunion didn’t last long. In a grim tale, Mr. K ominously compared Mickey to his own mother abandoning him in a jungle and how he tracked and murdered her a decade later. Although K may graciously offer him another chance, he will never completely forgive him and may one day find himself seized with the desire to kill Mickey. Right before telling him to leave, K gave him his mother's ashes and flaunted the sword (that Mickey might presumably be killed with) alongside his true dragon form.

Cleanbois Civil War
On January 16th, 2022, the tensions between Mickey S. and Raymond Romanov at long last reached a boiling point. In the midst of preparing for a Paleto bank job in honor of Ai Musori’s birthday, Ray was on the phone with his ex-girlfriend, Kitty Dream, discussing an A class boost he considered giving away. In the presence of company and in the cramped space of the car, Mickey perceived Ray’s lack of focus on the job to be extremely disrespectful. When Ray discounted his several requests to end the conversation, Mickey abruptly lost all patience and drove the car over a fire hydrant, sending Ray flying out of the vehicle and crashing into the street. Fuming with rage, Ray pulled out a pistol and shot after the tires as the car sped off into the distance. Over the phone Harry Brown and Barry Svensson — two of the crew members on the job — attempted to de-escalate the situation by urging them to make amends, recommending that Ray take time to calm down and return with a clear mind to help them set up the getaway plan. Instead, Ray vowed to shoot Mickey in the head and hung up the phone.

Having enough of the hollow death threats he’d been receiving for months on end, Mickey told Harry to inform Ray that he was kicked off of the job for his conduct. This only fueled Ray’s anger. Knowing that the crew was carrying on with the job without him and that they had yet to collect the laptop for the bank, Ray camped the laptop pick up spot up in Sandy Shores. Separating Mickey from the crew at gunpoint, Ray drove Mickey to a remote beach in the wilderness of Paleto. Forcing Mickey to get out of the car, Ray demanded Mickey apologize for his insulting behavior. Rather than apologize, Mickey pointed out that killing him would prove disastrous when Lang Buddha eventually returned from his day off and found out about this entire ordeal. When Ray told Mickey to turn around so he could shoot him, Mickey stood firm, insisting that Ray look him in the eyes if he truly intended to execute his own brother. With the conversation going nowhere, Ray fired three warning shots; the fourth one into Mickey’s head. Ray dragged the limp body into the ocean before abandoning the crime scene to carry on about his day.

Discovering Mickey's name embroidered on his suit, the doctors at Pillbox Medical Center called Mickey’s emergency contacts. With most of the family spending the day outside the city, the doctors’ calls were eventually answered by Harry who received the news that Mickey was found in the water by local EMS and was residing in the ICU, comatose but still breathing. Harry and Lars Haverford confronted Ray and when asked about his feelings on Mickey being alive, Ray responded that he felt indifferent. After a string of calls in which Ray tried to justify his behavior, the crew told him to not return to Clean Manor for the night, and resolved to cut communications and await Lang's return to determine the Russian’s fate.

The next day Lang suspected something massive must have gone down during his absence when he pulled into the Clean Manor driveway and saw that the property was buzzing with Cleanbois, Cerberus and Guild members. With everyone huddled around the dining table, Harry recollected the events from the previous day. As the story went on the group grew upset on Mickey's behalf, but Lang and Tony Corleone remained dubious, unwilling to believe that Ray could harm a fellow family member. However, Tony then pulled Lang aside and revealed an altercation he had months ago with Ray at Maldini's Pizzeria in which the Russian's temper got the best of him and drew a gun on Tony, threatening to kill him after Tony set him up on a double date with Ray's ex-girlfriend, Kitty, and her current boyfriend, Octavio Stenberg. Tony believed that it was entirely plausible that Ray tried to kill Mickey. Attributing the tale to the group’s famed CB comms, Lang wanted to hear both sides of the story firsthand before making any decisions.

Lang, Tony, Dean Watson, Leslie Lingberg, and Harry went to the hospital but were dismayed to discover that Mickey had a poor recollection of the events leading up to his hospitalization when he awoke from unconsciousness. They were musing on Raymond's mental state when they were interrupted by a phone call from the man himself. Lang instructed the Russian to meet him at Cerberus Business Center with no weapons on his person. Once they met up, Ray freely confessed to the failed execution and recalled his difficult interactions with Mickey, including his initial skepticism of the man for his abrupt departure from Chang Gang and recruitment in Cleanbois shortly thereafter, as well as Mickey’s breach of their agreement from earlier that month to stop tormenting each other with crude quips and jabs which always irritated and outraged Ray. In the face of Lang and Tony's criticism of his drastic actions, he explained that his purpose was not to harm, but rather to obtain an apology from Mickey, and when that failed, he shot and left him to die. Ray said he would never intentionally hurt a family member; Mickey being the sole exception. After a series of lengthy arguments where Lang and Tony attempted to persuade the man to recognize the gravity of the situation, the duo concurred that Ray was unwell given his detached demeanor. After reconvening with Leslie and Harry, who had been eavesdropping on the conversation, Leslie concluded that Ray's actions were unquestionably abnormal, if not sociopathic.

Lang and Tony headed back to the hospital to check where Mickey’s head was at. Despite being furious that his own brother was to blame for his partial blindness, Mickey pledged to preserve the peace and accept whatever verdict the family reached. With this in mind, they left Mickey to rest before meeting with Ray again. Though Lang initially objected to Tony’s proposition of institutionalizing a family member, he voiced his concern about Ray's mental health and said that if he desired to atone for his transgressions, he would agree to receive treatment at Parsons Rehabilitation Center and stay there until he felt fit to leave. Ray stated that he was willing to accept any punishment for the sake of family.

With Raymond on his way to Parsons, the remaining members, including Mickey, reunited at the Manor where Lang briefed them of his decision and caught up Yuno Sykk - who arrived late - on the situation. While the overwhelming majority of the family believed that the Russian had gone too far, they all agreed to cool down and wait for Ray’s rehabilitation before passing further judgment.

Two years had passed since the incident. Left traumatized and learning of Raymond's release from Parsons, Mickey devoted himself to devising plans and hunting for clues for the Clean 8’s impending grand robbery of the Diamond Casino vault. Despite Mickey's frequent claims that he wanted the family to handle Ray's fate, his resentment towards the Russian was palpable whenever his name was brought up in conversation. Knowing the wound would fester and the family division would widen the longer Mickey avoided confrontation, Lang cornered Mickey at Dean's World and after a heated discussion, persuaded the stubborn man to face Ray soon. He also informed Mickey that if he wished to see Ray face punishment, he would have to be the one to bring up the subject to the family.

At long last, Mickey returned Ray's calls the following day and they met in the Clean Manor's home office. Ray, soft-spoken and introspective, apologized and expressed regret for his lack of anger control and promised to try his very best to atone to Mickey. In response, Mickey plainly stated in front of the family that he was not interested in retribution; he wanted to put this far behind him and move on with his life. He went on to explain he ribbed and messed around with loved ones as a way to show affection for them, particularly Ray, because of the reaction he would get from him. But Mickey wouldn’t banter with him because he no longer considered Ray a brother and would only tolerate him as a co-worker for the sake of the family. Mickey accepted the apology and reminded Ray that family extended beyond those in close vicinity to include people like Dean Watson and Speedy, to which Ray replied he understood. Ray was equally surprised and appreciative that Mickey took the time to hear out and accept his apology, having presumed that Mickey was going to completely disregard what he had to say. At the end of the meeting Lang made it clear that executing a family member on a whim without consulting the rest of the family would never fly, and that if anyone dared to repeat an incident like this again, Ray — or anyone else — would face grave repercussions.

Over the course of the week, Ray spoke with family members and received a variety of responses, ranging from reluctant acceptance to full on mistrust. As the Clean 8 resumed their progression of the Diamond Casino heist, the family acted as if things had been restored to its former state, but Mickey was no longer the same man he once was. Coming to his aid when Mickey needed him most, at his own time and without the pressure of the family’s expectations, Mickey forgave Ray and now considers him to be his closest brother whose shoulder he can always lean on.

The 6th Mayor of Los Santos
Mickey campaigned for Mayor under the platform "Stir the Pot" with Dean Watson contributing two million and The Guild one and a half million dollars. On June 10th, 2022 while he was comatose after two consecutive helicopter crashes, Mickey was named the winner of the mayoral race by a landslide of five hundred fifteen votes. Once Mickey was discharged from the ICU on June 14th, 2022, he was sworn in as the 6th Mayor of Los Santos.

On August 21st, 2022, Mickey won the re-election for a second term. Deputy Mayor Mila Smoak amicably resigned due to personal and professional reasons (but was later hired on as a private Political Advisor for the Mickey administration by Apollo Integrated Ventures). Only Alex Domino (Mickey's new Chief of Staff) and Ayub Elmi continued into the second term as Deputy Mayors, with Mickey approving Nicholas Reyes and Dr. Kail Avile as new Deputy Mayor hires.

In a landmark decision, the Los Santos Senate denied Mayor Mickey's "Mickey Act" legislation which proposed that he be allowed to run for Mayor a third time (and only take office had he won the election by a supermajority). However, Chief Justice Alan Crane announced that the next Mayoral election opening date would be delayed indefinitely until independent security experts finished looking into the election systems integrity.

On January 18th, 2023, Chief Judge Alan Crane announced that Lang Buddha won the mayoral election. Inside Dennis LaBarre City Hall, Mickey and Crane peacefully completed the transfer of power and Mickey congratulated the new mayor before presenting him with the digital key to the city. Mickey left office having approved the most government legislation and serving the longest as mayor of Los Santos.

The CIA vs. the FIB

On September 6th, 2022, Mickey S.'s blind approval of his assistant Sloane Kelly's new consulting firm, Apollo Integrated Ventures, sparked a panic at Cerberus. When talking to Sloane over the phone, Lang Buddha discovered that AIV designed a stealth helicopter for the Federal Investigation Bureau. Alarmed that AIV was about to steal a client from Cerberus Industries Armory, Lang called an emergency Cerberus and Paleto Bay Sheriff's Office meeting to expedite an exclusivity contract for Cerberus to supply missiles, helicopters, and equipment to the FIB and the Unified Police Department. Mickey was astounded to learn that the AIV wanted to manage mayoral finances, including accounting and the distribution of PD budgets through their firm. Afterwards, in a meeting with Lang, Dean Watson, Kyle Pred, Tim, and FIB Agent Booba, FIB Director Bench Guy stated that he refused to collaborate with Cerberus and was instead waiting to see what Sloane would propose.

Meanwhile, during his awkward struggle to stall Sloane from signing the contracts, Sloane showed Mickey his proposed defense contracting clearance badge. When Mickey confessed to not reading his emails, Sloane insinuated that Mickey's months of neglecting emails in office and approving the AIV business proposal without reading could be construed as an impeachable offense. Lang, believing that Sloane was trying to act as a middleman for Cerberus Industries Armory, directed Mickey to block all State funding to AIV. On September 8th, 2022, Sloane formally resigned from Mickey’s mayoral administration and ceased all of his operations at Apollo Integrated Ventures.

The Face/Off Heist

On December 9th, 2022, Mayor Mickey sought revenge on clown Kirk Jerkems for wearing his face around the city (that the Block Gang had surgically helped Kirk steal on December 1, 2022). Mickey (still recovering from a surgically reconstructed face) paid the Gulag Gang a five million dollar bounty to kidnap Kirk for a face-off. Mickey had Zuck Cuc plant a hot class-2 AKS-74u Zenitco assault rifle on Kirk, to frame him for Mickey's illegal purchase of it during an undercover sting by Assistant Chief of Police Den Shiesty and Sgt. John Mineo. Mickey also planted his phone on Kirk, tipped Deputy Chief Jeffrey Bundy that Kirk had stolen a Cerberus helicopter, parachuted out of the helicopter with Kirk still inside, and led Bundy and Cpl. Shelby Lane to the top of the building where the helicopter crashed. Afterward, Shelby puzzled Bundy with news that the AR serial number matched a hot firearm that had gone missing from the PD evidence locker. Kirk claimed to Bundy that the Blocks had forced Mickey's face on him, and that Mickey and blacked-out gunmen planted the hot AR firearm on him. The surgeons removed Mickey's face from Kirk, and Bundy jailed Kirk on a 24-hour investigative hold. Given that CPD Peacekeeper Han Velsing originally investigated the theft of Mickey's face, Bundy left it to him whether to push terrorism charges on Kirk.
