Marty Banks is a character role-played by omie.

Description[]

Marty Banks is a member, founder, and "King Slime" of Gulag Gang. He is a well-established criminal within Los Santos and can often be seen hanging around or saving his "bestie" Jean Paul, or with fellow GG members. He is also the owner of the Vanilla Unicorn Strip Club, and the owner of the Strawberry Ave. Gas Station (X-Mart). He first gained popularity for his insane hacking skills and ability to break into banks; catching the attention of some of the biggest gangs in the city.

Personality[]

Marty has a boisterous yet extremely loyal personality. He is immature, rowdy, and loud at times but also becomes very serious when he needs to or is faced with intense situations. Marty tends to adopt the traits of those he hangs around with most, in a chameleon-like way such as more brass and wild when he's around Jean Paul, but more tame and shy when he's around Yuno Sykk. This can cause some people to see him as a "copy cat" but it's just the way Marty acts when he's around others for a longer period and the way his personality is.

Some people who don't know Marty can view this in a bad light though such as Chang Gang and Mr.Kebun who have labelled Marty a "dick-rider". An example of why they view him this way is due to his close friendship with Jean Paul and when Marty would call Ramee El-Rahman frequently asking for a job at Vultur Lé Culturé.

Much like the other members of Gulag Gang, Marty is fiercely loyal to those he trusts and will protect and defend them at all costs, whether it's against a powerful gang or any member of the PD. His blind loyalty to one of the Gulag Gang members Jean Paul is explained to have stemmed from Jean Paul giving the manager role to Marty when he first met him.

The Chodie Incident

October 27th 2021 - The Chodie Incident

During the early hours of October 27th, Marty and X decided to take a shot at robbing the Lower Vault. This robbery was successful with the loot being secured- However, while attempting to leave the Vault, the group were Breached and robbed by Chang Gang. This signified the true start of Gulag Gang in the main city and began the first war between CG and GG.

During this war, Jack Cortair who was a long-standing friend of CG's, refused to shoot at CG member Chad "Chodie" Brodie even as he shot at Jack's fellow GG members.

This incident is referred to constantly, haunting Marty about the betrayal of his best friend, Jack.

The Casino Heist

January 2022 - The Casino Heist

After months of attempting to become close to Lang Buddha, Marty finally managed to break the barrier and was invited to attempt the Casino Heist. Creating a close friendship between him and the Cleanbois group.

Kidnapped By Mr. K

May 31st 2022 - Kidnapped By Mr. K

During the second Gulag Gang vs Chang Gang war: Marty, Jack and Spachi were caught lacking and kidnapped by CG while near Vespucci. During this kidnapping, they were blindfolded and taken to the Vultur Lé Culturé Tunnels where they were tortured and spoken to by CG members. During this, Mr. Kebun took to teaching Marty in the importance of respect and knowing when to give it.

This led to massive Character growth for Marty, learning when to fold and who he owes respect. He reflects a lot on this talk with Mr K when either being ruthless or when he is placed in a bad position.

Trivia[]

  • Marty is probably the best hacker, only contested by Yuno Sykk. Both are crowned as the best hackers in Los Santos. They as a duo are called Bing and Bango.
  • Marty was banned from BurgerShot after trying to kill Shelly Smith.
  • Often tries to flirt with Carmella Corset.
  • Marty is close friends with Jack Cortair and helps him with banks.
  • OG member of Gulag Gang.
  • Marty highly respects Ming Jingtai, he was the Second-In-Command before him and one of the founders of Gulag Gang. Marty sees Ming as an older brother.
  • Marty is responsible for the shooting of Appie Turk.
  • Marty originally sported short black hair with blue streaks instead of his signature red.
  • Used to date April Fooze despite her being from Chang Gang and him having cut ties with his Ex-Fiancée for being associated with Wu Chang Records.
