General Description[]

Luciano 4.0 Fanart

Luciano (cred. @SlumberingFool)

Luciano DiCenzo is a seasoned criminal who has taken more than one foray into the murky underworld that is Los Santos' criminal scene. An Italian-American with ties to the mob through the centuries-old DiCenzo Famiglia, of which his ancestors Cesare DiCenzo & Santino "Sonny" DiCenzo were once feared and respected leaders, he is no stranger to gang life. Once favouring himself quite the workhorse with former jobs in areas such as sanitation, hunting and food service at Frank's, Luciano, over the past year, has slowly developed to a more entrepreneurial and administrative individual in his crew, South Cypress, though he is very much still not afraid of getting his hands dirty when he must.

Appearance[]

Luciano's stylish look is instantly recognizable by both his friends and his foes, his classic, dark brown, long hair is unmatched by any other who shares the hairstyle, such as his Twin #2 Ziggy Buggs. In addition to his stylish locks, Luciano is also recognized by noticeable scarring down the right side of his face trailing from above his brow and tracing down his green eyes, with it carrying a dark tale of the inevitability of consequence, a memorable lesson that he carries with him to this day.

In terms of his fashion choice, Luciano is often never seen without a cigarette perpetually nestled in the corner of his mouth, switching his clothing from business-like with suits to everyday casualwear as the situation calls for it. His elegant style is complemented by a golden wristwatch gifted to him by Tony Corleone, similarly golden rings, an earring in his left ear, and at times a chain depending on the day's outfit.

Personality[]

Those who consider themselves a friend to Luciano may assume that they know him, however the mafioso has more depth to him than one would think at first glance. He may be for all intents and purposes kind to his subordinates, but he has with him a fiery side that, were one to discover it the best case scenario for them would be receiving an earful, the worst case however, would earn them a trip to the hospital with a broken bone or two. Luckily, the man is known for his patience, which contrasts well with his fellow Dons of Cypress Arush "Speedy" Patel Santana and Harry Brown, and as such that side of him is rarely shown.

Through his tenure in the city, Luciano has learned not to take things said at face value, though he comes from a background in the Mafia and has values of loyalty, honour and respect that are foundational to who he is as a person, events have transpired that have left him more sceptical, much less naive and suspecting of even those closest to him. Another characteristic of Luciano's that has faded with time is his penchant for diplomacy, after the great North/South Cypress split, Luciano found some small victory in the idea that he would now be able to build relationships with other crews such as Hades Gang without earning Lang's ire, however, the decline of South Cypress' relationship with The Besties and the resultant war that followed has rendered Luciano's care for diplomacy null and void, only adding to his sceptical outlook.

Background[]

Luciano Before the Economic Collapse[]

Luciano DiCenzo was born February 16th, 1996 in the beautiful Old Country of Sicily, Italy, though he was primarily raised in his ancestral hometown of Saint Denis in Saint's Crossing, America, a city steeped in cultural history, one that the DiCenzo Famiglia of old dominated for years. At 24-years-old, Luciano's father was arrested on charges relating to his family's criminal enterprise, and as a result he and his brother Vittorio DiCenzo, as well as their long-time childhood friend Alfredo Bonucci, fled to the glistening city of Los Santos for what was originally a temporary stay, though after getting wrapped up in the local criminal scene, Lang Buddha's Rooster's Rest conflicts, the establishment of Little Italy, and most of all Luciano's love of his life, Eve Summers, the trio ended up staying for good.

After Luciano and his now ex-wife Eve Summers were married, they left Los Santos amidst an irreparable economic collapse and decided to honeymoon in Spain along with their adoptive daughter Lottie Mae, subsequently settling down in Italy where they remained for five years, sticking together through financial hardship. Following five long years happily married, Luciano received news that his father had passed away, and further, he had been unknowingly transported to Bolingbroke Penitentiary before his death, in light of this information, the happy couple along with their adoptive daughter decided to return to Los Santos after all that time, finding the city burgeoning once again, with the State working tirelessly to revive the economy.

Rekindling Old Loyalties[]

Upon his return to Los Santos during the economic revival, Luciano DiCenzo reunited with his brother, Vittorio DiCenzo - with whom he had not spoken to in the past five years due to estrangement - and his then-girlfriend Juno Sweeney, along with a handful of other Italians who were loyal to Luciano, the most notable of which being the likes of Carlo Marciano, Tiny Tony, Matteo Salerno, Joseph "Big Joe" Gambini and more. All of them combined forces to gain a foothold in the city early on, taking up residence at a house in Rockford Hills that was once home to the Balbani Crime Family, working a myriad of jobs such as Gruppe 6, Grime, Snr. Buns and so on.

Only days into the revival of the economy, Luciano organised a meeting with his old employer and mentor, Lang Buddha, with the help of his good friend Tony Corleone, where he and his brother Vito repledged his loyalty to the men and offered their assistance should they require anything of him. This conversation left a lingering impact on Luc, and while his band of Italians continued to amass with prospects like deceased associate Boris Karishnikov's little brother, now-deceased Ilya Karishnikov being considered, he started to feel disillusioned with the group and their motivations, instead seeking something different. As a result of this, Luciano confided in Tony about his feelings, and his secret desire to join 'the Oldbois'—Lang Buddha, Tony Corleone, Harry Brown, Arush "Speedy" Patel Santana, and Octavio "Octo" Vettel (what would later become known as Cypress). Luciano also made this desire known to his wife Eve Summers, with which the knowledge of this revelation greatly upset her and perhaps even began the eventual decline and ending of their marriage.

Despite concluding his conversation with Eve by assuring her that he wouldn't join the Oldbois, an offer was extended to Luciano to join him a couple days later, setting out stringent conditions that neither Eve, nor Vito would be allowed to follow him. After some deliberation, Luciano accepted the offer made to him, paying his $10,000 buy-in fee and becoming the second bought-in member of the crew. With his priority now set on the growth of this new crew, Luciano tried to support his brother in leading The Italians solo, with his wife Eve DiCenzo-Summers acting as Consigliere after the move from the Rockford House to the Venetian down in Vespucci, but it was clear his attention was elsewhere, especially after he was made the fifth Don of the crew a couple days after being bought in.

It was an incident involving Tiny Tony, Lang Buddha and Luciano that exacerbated the latter's division from his former group, with Lang wrenching Tiny Tony in response to some stirring shit-talk, as Tiny was known for doing. Upon hearing about this incident from Tiny Tony and Luciano himself, his brother Vito responded with aggression and banished Luc from the Venetian, making him no longer welcome for a short period of time.

The Fall of Eviano[]

Following his newfound status as a Don in the Oldbois, Luciano found himself to have considerably less time dedicated towards his wife, Eve. Where he once hunted deer in the ranges of the Paleto Forest area with his wife and daughter, Luc now found himself hunting with his crew members, such as Clark Mason and Ilya Karishnikov, the latter of which followed Luciano to his crew from The Italians, determined on paying his deceased brother's blood debt. Seeing this fact irked Eve, and she often made snarky remarks towards Luciano that he no longer spent enough time with her, which perhaps was true. This is all to say that what ultimately killed Luciano's marriage with his wife, Eve, was their lack of time spent together and the resultant misery it wrought. From going back to Italy to entering a self-induced coma, one could say that Eve was put through a lot of torment. Whereas their marriage just months prior in Italy was all things considered a happy one, it was clear that such was not the case here in Los Santos.

Towards the end of their marriage together, Eve found some small solace in those around her, confiding in such people as her best friends Alex Mushkin-Domino, Gloryon and Bjorn, however, upon finding out that Eve had been telling those around her about her marital issues, Luciano took this as an affront and saw Eve as "airing out their dirty laundry". Another person she confided in was Hazel Havgreaves, who - with the knowledge of Luciano and Eve's declining marriage - sought to reach out to Luciano in the hopes that he would treat his wife a little better. This action had the opposite effect however, and using his skills of manipulation, Luc managed to make Hazel confess what Eve had told him, which only exacerbated his disappointment. After many arguments about this subject of "dirty laundry" being exposed, Eve fell into a state of depression and stopped eating well, which resulted in her passing out on the shores of Chumash and being transported to the Crusade Medical Centre, where she was diagnosed to be in a coma.

Unfortunately, due to engagements beyond his control, Luciano was not able to attend the hospital immediately, where Eve was under watch in the ICU with many of the aforementioned friends by her side, as well as other friends like Nancy Drew, Kitty Dream and Eve's adoptive sister Fiona Stewart. The scene at the hospital when Luciano finally arrived was an ugly one, with almost everyone in attendance proceeding to dogpile on him, calling him out for his neglect of his wife, his lack of care for her and otherwise debasing him with insults which upset the man, however with his wife in such a state, he could only accept the criticisms as factual and awkwardly remain in the ICU with his unconscious wife and her scornful friends.

After considering the negative effects Luciano's actions had been having on not just Eve's feelings, but even her health, he made a tough decision, one that he did not want to do, but felt as though it was necessary for his wife's sake. The next day, when Eve was out of her coma and had been informed on what had occurred during her unconsciousness, she called Luciano and he asked her to meet at the place where they shared many happy memories together, their old home, Little Italy. Thinking it a crucial decision for his wife's health and emotional state, Luciano made the ultimate decision to end their marriage together there, on the grass out front of Little Italy where they once lounged on sunbeds, getting their tan. Despite numerous pleas made by Eve not to go through with it, he walked away, leaving the place, and her, behind as he called Eve's sister, Fiona, to the location, knowing that Eve would need some comfort in the immediate aftermath of his choice.

This chapter of his life highlights the complexity of Luciano's self, he is not perfect, and he has since sworn off all romance (except for Pigeon, his Goomah). To this day, it is said that he is still not over Eve, and perhaps he never will be, but he knows that for her safety, he must stay away, as both a partner and as a friend to her.
