Lara VanDusk is a person?
Five long years[]
When Yokai went on Hiatus and Lara was left alone, days quickly turned into months, and Lara’s already established abandonment issues and fear of being left behind started to set in.
After letting the YoHouse get dusty, the garden overgrown, the payments on the cars and maintenance fees grew faster than Lara could process it. During this downward spiral, her cat Salami, seemed to leave for longer periods of time and eventually didn’t come home. Paleto Pets investigated the situation and found Salami on a neighboring property, they rehomed him after deeming Lara unfit to take care of him.
A lot of Lara’s money had been invested into JaseCoin, its inevitable crash caused her personal finances to plummet; with impound fees owed on her multiple cars she couldn’t afford to take them out of the impound lot anymore. She eventually lost the house and moved into a state apartment.
Rest in Pieces was foreclosed on, once the State found Lara didn't pay taxes (she didn't know how coz Haze wasn't there >.<)
Over the years Lara kept her Katana close to her, wearing it all the time. It was still her pride and joy, the sign of her accomplishments even if they’re not around. She held it near and dear until the day it broke in her arms, the last thing she had left of Yokai.
She spent her remaining money on guns, cigarettes and metamorphine.
Lara would video call Ember every week, with hours long conversations about every detail of their days and antics. Then those calls turned to every 6 weeks for about 30 minutes, then to around 6 months between calls, barely a conversation between Ember’s busy schedule and Lara having nothing new going on. Lara feels the rift forming between them but her feelings remain there, strongly. The only person she ever loved, she isn't letting go that easily. She even wears Ember’s jacket almost everyday.
Los Santos renewed[]
On the 16th of December 2023, citizens returned to the streets of Los Santos. It was no longer the ghost town that Lara had grown accustomed to.

Reuniting with old friends[]
While browsing the Yellow Pages, Lara spotted a familiar name with a new title (self-proclaimed). She quickly dialed the listed number for Senator Violet Snowe and reconnected with her old friend. Kass and Violet picked her up, and they traded stories of how they'd spent the last few years. While catching up with each other, the trio went to Mosely's Mechanic Shop, which was managed by Mary Domino-Mushkin and helped Lara get hired on as a mechanic.
As she reunited with other friends from the old Yokai, Lara learnt about their new plans and agreed to help Violet with her latest criminal endeavor. Violet and Kass took Lara and Haze to the Maze Bank Arena, where Violet propositioned to bring Lara in under her as her foot soldier. Lara agreed and began to earn money to dump into Violet's operation.
Kaneshiro Clan[]
Lara was brought into the Kaneshiro Clan by Violet as her soldier. Starting at the bottom again as a Heishi, she worked hard and remained loyal to the group and proved her worth, always asking what needed to be done and helping however she could. One such example is with Sanitation and the ever demanding grind of materials. When Lara heard about the need for materials and how crucial they would become, she dedicated her life to the Sanitation grind for the betterment of the group. Since she was brought in by Violet, Lara was the third member of the gang to be able to push weed and dedicated all the money she earned to Violet to help her recuperate the start-up cost.
Her continued support and contributions to the gang did not go unnoticed. After a few months of dedicated work, Lara was promoted to the role of Shatei on March 3rd, 2024. Since the promotion, Lara has continued to grow and help the gang expand through sanitation, dealing weed, and helping with heists.

| Lara's best friend and off/on lover, Ember was introduced to Lara through Kass and JJ's connections to Seaside and Yokai. At the time of meeting, Kass and JJ were high-ranking members in both and Ember was a Seaside hang around. Lara and Ember were quick friends and soon were inseparable. Feeding off of each other's "gremlin" energy, they are always in some sort of trouble whenever together. They are also business partners together, working as co-owners of Hot Girl Towing. Ember is very protective of Lara and will often lash out at women Lara meets and threaten them with violence. This is does not mean that the relationship isn't open, however, as both Kate and Patrick have been known to join in on occasion as long as Patrick stays in his chair.
On the 30th of November 2023, Ember and Lara officially became girlfriends. Sadly, only two weeks later, Ember revealed that she had to move back to Canada indefinitely. After some tearful conversations, Lara dropped her off at the airport unsure of when they would see each other again. |

| Lara's mentor, friend and lawyer. Haze is one of Lara's closest confidants and friends and she regularly calls him for both for company and advice. Though he was not the first one to bring her into Yokai, he took a shine to her early on and pushed for her to progress within the group and pushed her to better herself. Lara would take a bullet for him and trusts that he would do the same for her. |

| Kass was the first one who inspired Lara to pursue Yokai. Lara was working in UWU Café one day and was jumpscared by Kass as Suzaku who snuck up behind her asking for food. Since then, Kass has been a friend and mentor; teaching her the ropes of being a criminal and regularly bringing Lara on jobs to help hone her skills. |

| JJ was one of the first Yokai to bring Lara on jobs and teach her the ropes. Acting as a mentor, JJ tries to test Lara's skills and help give her tasks to do to advance her knowledge. While a firm believer in Lara's ability to grow, he has expressed his doubts in her actual abilities to the point of trying to deny her full member. Despite this, the two have a friendly relationship where he keeps trying to push her, even if it can be contentious. |

She sees Mary as the Mother figure and her organizations as the home she never had. While the world collapsed around them five years ago, they held hands and watched the fireworks from the roof of Lara's old Crematorium. Five years later, they are back together and slowly became officially girlfriends. Now they own a house together and share most of everything with each other. Lara would do anything for Leah and sees her as one of the few ties she has left to her sanity. |
