BCSO Retired Domenic Toretti Malton and Toretti occassionally patrol and pursue active investigations together. Their relationship became a lot stronger since the day Toretti talked to Malton about him not being a Senior Officer. Malton responded by saying that they, together, were going to work towards the promotion for him. Johnny Divine The start of Malton and Divine's friendship is hazy, but they have worked very closely together on the job ever since. They often ride together, partner up on their shifts, and work together on investigations. They tend to balance each other out very well; Divine gets Malton to open up a little more, where Malton tends to keep Divine grounded and level-headed. Divine will frequently go to Malton for advice on various topics, from his love life to investigation help and everything in-between, and Malton does his best to give the best advice that he's capable of. In that same vein, even though Malton is normally rather lackluster in expressing his emotions (aside from the rare rush of anger here and there), Divine will often go to Malton when he needs a shoulder to cry on or when he just needs someone to listen, and it appears that Malton doesn't really mind it, because while he isn't the best with things like emotions, he'll do the best he can to offer comfort and to help ease Divine's worries. Divine has stated that he considers Malton to be his best friend and like a brother to him, which means a lot as he doesn't trust very many people. It is fairly obvious to others that they have a strong bond between them, and even though that bond has nearly been broken before (e.g. when Malton unintentionally insulted Lauren Forcer, Divine's wife), they have reconciled and their bond is still fully intact. Bob Smith The relationship between Malton and Bobby started during the Police Training Academy, where Bobby spent some time watching Malton. Malton didn't talk as much as the other Cadets, and not a lot of the instructors were really observing him as much as Bobby. After becoming an official Officer of the LSPD, Malton decided to go by the callsign "409" (the LSPD equivalent of Bobby's "309" callsign. Since his promotion to Officer, Malton has been known as the "Bike God", for patrolling and crashing frequently with the LSPD motorbike. Malton and Bobby now have friendly banter whenever they see each other on duty, and ultimately Bobby truly respects him.

• GeneralEmu has stated that if Malton failed Police Academy, that he would have "snapped" and turned to the life of a serial killer, to spite the LSPD. (Small personality traits of this underlying characteristic still exist, such as Malton's lack of emotion when digging up a dead body in the South Side and immediately suggesting Baas to kill Shelly after he confided in him about her infidelity.)
