King of Investments (KOI) was a brokerage investment company that focuses on investing in crypto currency. It was located in Vespucci on the corner of Bay City Avenue and Tug Street.
The Beginnings[]
On the 16th of August, 2022, Barry Benson and his son TJ Walker brainstormed the idea of an investment firm that specialized in GNE, with a public face that legally traded crypto while under the table it would run a crypto casino.
Barry, realizing they needed a believable storefront for the legal side of the business, concocted an idea of selling non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for those looking for financial advice on how to invest their crypto.
Behind the scenes they would offer crypto gambling, betting on races and bidding on boosting contracts. Additionally, they would have on-site practice hacking stations for high-level boosting.
KOI was approved as a business on the 20th of September 2022 by the mayor. On the 26th of September 2022, Barry purchased the KOI building for $150,000, and it became the second official storefront in Vespucci.
The Vespucci Business Board also had offices out of the KOI building, where former Director Stevie McQueen managed the neighborhood's business hub.
Working with the Puppet Master[]
Business partner Chip Wheeler got in touch with the Puppet Master immediately, offering him a chance to keep GNE scarce in the city with their business idea. The PM seemed intrigued, and gave his approval for them to go ahead with the proposal.
RICO[]
All of the BBMC's businesses were confiscated by the Federal Investigation Bureau six months following a RICO warrant being delivered to them at the Billy on the 13th of December 2023.
Prospect Theodora Thatcher attempted to return to Vespucci to bring it back to life after the RICO, and began an underground crypto network out of the abandoned KOI building. KOI began buying failing businesses in the city to use as fronts for crypto mining. Their bank accounts were used to help launder money. But a tip to the police eventually brought down her network, and Theo fled to Canada.
