Background Information[]
Joseph Vu is the name. He was born all the way over in West Africa, specifically within Ghana. His parents were quite wealthy in Ghana and at the time of Joseph's birth in the early nineties, Joseph's father was a well respected doctor in their home town and he was the owner of the first general doctors practice and the Vu family started to become recognised as noble people who were there to help. You see, back in the early nineties, being rich and powerful in Ghana meant that you could either be respected or feared. Rather than be selfish, Joseph's father made it a habit to give back to his people and make sure that the people in the neighbourhood were in good health. However, there were other rich families who used to think that Joseph's father was making a mockery of being rich and powerful and that it gave an insight of weakness to families who were more well off. Joseph didn't know much about any of this sort of thing, he just felt like being in a rich environment and getting what you wanted was all part of life. As a young child,Joseph was a happy go lucky type of kid who never really got a chance to experience true struggle. That was until he started to get a little older and he was gaining more responsibility. He must have been around ten years old when he was first pressured into his studies.
The thing about Joseph was that he struggled with ADHD and he had huge boots to fill as everyone in the area and his own family expected Joseph to follow in his fathers footsteps and become a doctor. Deep down, Joseph didn't want anything to do with education or becoming a doctor; instead he wanted to be like his favourite athlete and his hero who was a world renowned soccer player. He played in the English Premier League, for a city called Liverpool. The football club was named Liverpool Foootball Club or LFC for short and they were very dominant. However, if it wasn't for the West African forward who played for the team at the time, they wouldn't have accomplished any of the well known accolades that they're known for. Joseph spent countless hours, every day he'd be playing soccer or football as he'd call it in the playground at school, in the large field his father owned behind the family home, to be honest he'd play football almost anywhere, you could say that little Joseph was football crazy! One day at school; Joseph had just finished a long day of constant tests as they were about to send the students up to the next grade where they'd have to work hard to gain a qualification. Joseph felt like he didn't really have to do much in this test, he knew his family were well off and he figured that if worse came to worst that he'd be able to work with his father.
Anyway, a few weeks go by where all of the students at the private school were on summer break. Then the dreaded envelope was delivered to the family home, it was Joseph's test results and this was going to determine whether or not he could advance to the next stage of education. In order for Joseph to achieve his fathers dream, he had to get at least five results at a B grade or above. "Joseph!" his father shouted from the living room. Joseph was nervous and he ran right downstairs; "Yes father?" He said in a light, polite tone. His father opened up the envelope, he had a smile on his face as he was clearly expecting big things, then he saw every single result as a fail. The fury could be seen in his eyes; he stood up and screamed. "What is this?! Huh?! Do you think you'll become a doctor by getting results like this?!" The screaming and shouting continued, so much to the point where Joseph's mother even got involved in the conversation. Joseph had never seen his father like this and he felt heartbroken and betrayed. He ran to his room and he cried his little eyes out, he could just hear his father talking about how much of a disappointment Joseph was to the family and that he wasn't going to amount to anything. This was the point where Joseph said enough was enough. He didn't care about his fathers thoughts on his education, it weren't his fault that he found it hard to pay attention in class, he just felt helpless.
Joseph left his family and friends just the day after. He fled and tried to get some money. He tried surviving by selling drugs on the streets of Africa. He scammed a lot of people, because he didnt had money to buy drugs and resell them. One day he scammed the wrong guy and got kidnapped by a cartel named “The Mombasa Cartel” he got beaten up for day and days till he almost died. One day he heard gunshots. It was gunshots of a person who he tought was was god. He saw a person in a blacksuit and a hat. He introduced hisself as Mr.Reddington. Raymond Reddington is a highly intelligent, highly driven individual with developed sociopathic tendencies. This appears to be the product of PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) as there are no signs that he was born this way. Sly, manipulative, and charming, Red is always three steps ahead of everyone else, and is determined to keep himself a mystery. As he puts it, “I’m a criminal. Criminals are notorious liars. Everything about me is a lie.” That’s probably true, actually, but who knows for sure. He dislikes rude people. when Reddington found Joseph half-dead and chained to a pipe in the basement of a brothel in Nairobi. Reddington took care of him, nursed him back to health, and made sure he got an education. Joseph eventually, learned to speak 4 languages fluently and learned 6 others well enough to get by. There are confirmed reports that Joseph was with Reddington in Sierra Leone and Brussels, Belgium. Other reports place him and Red in Murmansk and Belfast.
Later he became Raymond Reddington's sworn bodyguard and one of his closest friends.
