The High Value Target Unit is the warrant apprehension unit within the Unified Police Department.
Description[]
The High Value Target Unit stated goal is to apprehend persons with high profile warrants. They're primarily focused on warrants for HUT (Held Until Trial) charges and attempted murder charges.
They do this through intel gathering on possible locations of the hunted person(s), often in collaboration with the Street Crimes Unit, then putting surveillance on those areas with the help of Unmarked vehicles, Helicopter surveillance and Undercover operation with SCU. Then they organize scratch groups out of the available officers on duty to aid in apprehending the relevant person(s).
Leadership[]
The unit is currently under the leadership of Connor Stubble. Under him are squad leaders who are authorized to lead HVTU operations. Under them are HVTU Operatives who regularly join in on HVTU operations.
History[]
The "warrant hunting unit" was originally an idea by then Chief of Police Sam Baas, but he immediately handed it over to Lydia Vale and Owen Svensen who were put in charge of making and leading it. Vale came up with the HVTU name and uniform, as well as writing the SOPs. Owen was the co-lead from the start, but was always referring to Vale as the actual lead. After Vale was dismissed on October 23rd, 2022, Svensen took over as sole lead until the PD restructure on March 6th, 2023, where Stubble took over as lead.
