Henry Pennypacker was born Henry Edward Pennebaker III in Manhattan, New York in 1952. Due to a transcription error on a medical form, Henry changed his last name to Pennypacker after moving recently from New York. With a past as an informant for the FBI, Henry welcomed this change.

Family History[]
Neeltje Pennebaker (Great, Great Grandfather) was born in Poland and led several secret societies which eventually led to an insurrection against the Polish government. After being exiled following an unsuccessful uprising, Neeltje went into hiding, moving across Europe and eventually settling in Italy where he married and had a son as well as two daughters. His pride and joy, Henry's great grandfather, Friedrich Pennebaker was born in Italy where he was a somewhat successful street thief and a would-be magician/balloon artist.
At age 24, Friedrich had a son, my grandfather, Heinrich. Heinrich was a cunning and sophisticated man even from a young age. On the streets of Italy, as immigrants, and with not much to show for themselves, Friedrich wanted more for his son and his two daughters. Friedrich worked many odd jobs and made some shady dealings to save every penny the could with the hopes of eventually making his way to America. After many years of hard labor, he had eventually saved enough money for just two of the family members to immigrate to New York, USA. After many nights of heated discussions, it was decided that Friedrich and Heinrich would travel together to New York and eventually call for the remainder of the family. So, in 1887, when Heinrich was only 15 years old, the two made the long trip by boat to America.
After settling in the slums of New York City which was all they could afford at the time, Heinrich resorted to street crimes and other petty criminal activities which eventually led him to make the acquaintance of a young John "Korney" Kwiatkowski in Buffalo, New York. Korney would eventually go on to lead the "Korney Gang” which was notorious during prohibition era New York City in the 1930’s.
Heinrich was an entrepreneur from the start, rising through the ranks of various crime families and eventually running his own group of moonshiners and illegal drug and alcohol traders. Friedrich become independently wealthy thanks to several large gifts he received from his son, making it possible for him to start several businesses. Neither Heinrich or Friedrich called for their family in Italy and began a trend of notoriously “single” men who preferred the company of high-class prostitutes and strippers.
As Heinrich grew into adulthood, he was promiscuous relationships with many women, most of which were short-lived. However, his longest relationship, a brief fling with a waitress from the Bronx produced a son, Henry's father, Wilhelm Pennebaker in 1932 at the height of prohibition.
Similarly, to Friedrich who was lavished by large investments and gifts from Heinrich, Henry's father Wilhelm went on to become another prominent figure in the New York City crime scene at a very young age. However, he couldn’t escape his father’s past and also became involved with many women at a young age, having nearly started a family twice with two women in his teens. His father, knowing this would distract Wilhelm from the business, paid off the families of the women. However, at age 20, when my Wilhelm got a third girl pregnant, they both decided it was the appropriate time to add to the family tree and set up a succession to the family business. And thus, Henry's mother, Felicity Von Der Heyde – an immigrant from London with Dutch roots who had moved to New York City with hopes to eventually migrate to California and become an actress, gave birth to Henry Pennebaker III – whose name was an ode to his grandfather and a long distant relative in the family tree.
