Background

Delmon Homme, or The Perfume Maker, is a serial killer and stalker who spends most of his time in Paleto. Delmon has an acute sense of smell and synesthesia. His form of synesthesia, in which he associates aromas with images (which he calls paintings), helped him become a very successful perfume maker and seller in his early twenties. He does not know who his parents are. He grew up in an orphanage. His psychopathy and sociopathy shined through at an early age leading to most of the children at the orphanage avoiding interactions with him. Struggling to make friends, Delmon instead immersed himself in the many books, movies, and music housed in the orphanage. One of those books he read was Perfume by Patrick Suskind.

Delmon's modus operandi is to stalk and then abduct people he considers to have unique paintings, draw their blood with a syringe, collect a sample of their tears, smack them in the back of the head with a hammer until they collapse, and then skin his victim's underarms and back. He then uses these skin samples to create a perfume in their honor. Once the perfume is finished he leaves a bottle at different locations for the police to find. The bottle of perfume is usually accompanied by song lyrics or a walkman containing a cassette tape featuring a song of his choice. He refers to his victims as donators, and in his own words he 'harvests' his victims.
