General Description[]
Cayden Bottomley is a Paramedic for the Emergency Medical Services, call-sign Papa-10.
He is also a Prison Doctor for the Department of Corrections, call-sign MD-3.
Personality[]
Cayden is a weird mixture of both professionalism and unadulterated childlike behaviour that seems to mix together into a weird mishmash of mannerisms that would confuse even the most renowned behavioural specialist. He toes the line between, finding a more natural position being flexible and extending towards one direction when the situation seems appropriate. Naturally, this never works and he often goes the other way instead and upsets people by saying and doing the wrong things. He tries his hardest to make sure that he is having some degree of fun and not being uptight or boring.
He has a laidback approach when communicating with people, often opening with respect and then, as the relationship builds, falling more into banter and relaxed conversation. He connects with people far more rapidly than normal due to said laidback approach. He is, in some sense, impossible to annoy or make angry. He will give everyone multiple chances before, as a last resort, closing the door.
He is a compassionate person that always sees the best in people. His sole goal is to give everyone the same chance and treat everyone the same, no matter what they may have done to him or in general in the past. He gives what he gets, yet will never turn down a chance to offer a hand to help someone up.
He falls into affection with people easily and can flip between all stages of a friendship in mere minutes if the connection between them is right. He is a bit flirtatious with what he says, yet maintains a respectful tone to it. He considers himself an approachable person and is always done to have a conversation, whether it is a quick or a lengthy one. While he may remain mostly silent, he listens and provides input when needed. To a small degree, he will mimic the energy of the other person he is around. Should he be in a large group, he gets confused about who to follow and mimic.
He lacks a verbal filter and often spouts or says the most random, obscure nonsense fathomable. While it hardly bothers him when people comment on it, it is one of his core frustrations when dealing with himself and wishes that he could hold his tongue and not say inappropriate things at certain times.
Background Information[]
Cayden was born and raised in a somewhat medium sized town in Australia. While he keeps the exact town location a secret, mostly so people do not attempt to track his past prior to arriving in Los Santos, he is rather open about his time in his home country and reminisces on it fondly.
He was born on Valentine’s Day, his birth ruining the desire his parents had to actually do anything romantic on that day, which, while he was ashamed of this in his early teenage years, he turned to love how they changed their traditions and holidays around him. And, while he loves his birthday, he wishes that he was born on a normal day and despises his birthday due to it. Something about it being weird to celebrate your birthday while being on a date with another person.
Growing up, he had an insanely happy childhood that contained very few down moments. It was always the usual stuff that got him: school, growing up, realising that his biggest idols were complete fakes. While not rich and spoiled, he was well off and got almost everything he wanted in life. Materialistic objects aside, which he hardly cared about, people were there when he needed them, which gave him the support needed so that he could expand and grow from what he used to be. A shy, somewhat nerdy boy who wanted to be a police officer or a soldier, both of which would allow him to be the ‘hero’.
His parents supported each and every fickle dream or hobby that he had while growing up. Drums, violin, piano (which he was astonishingly good at), sports, and anything else that can be named that did not include heights or large masses of water. They had been a tad cautious about videogames, but enjoyed that it made their son happy and more sociable, even if he tended to be a slight more aggressive than usual when playing.
There was only one hobby that neither of his parents would support: rap. It had nothing to do with music taste and more to do with the stereotypes associated with rap music. The women, the money, the recklessness. They did not want their only child to be subjected to that sort of influence and behaviour. Of course, it did very little to dissuade him from the genre and pushed him more into it as he started practicing and practicing. Because he could not actually verbally practice rapping, he was never quite good at riding a beat or flowing, but he could write bars and songs without much issue – except for choruses and bridges. He was far better at just writing verses straight through. He was often called a great diss track writer – by his small friends who he showed his works to – due to the fact that diss tracks often lack a chorus and a hook and are, in most cases, just verse after verse after verse.
His styles of rap are erratic, like his mind, and he bounces between various styles depending on his current mood. He likes to push limits and create different styles and different takes on other styles, merging them into something new, fresh, and unique.
He often had a small circle of friends, being social inept and somewhat shy in his youth. He kept them close and had no real enemies. He finds it extremely difficult to actually muster of the emotion required to hate or despise people, which means he tends to be friendly with almost everyone he meets. His memory also tends to be bad, therefore forgetting names and faces and that could (and does) cause issues when you are meant to hate someone. One of his more known phrases when growing up was along the lines of, “Alone but not lonely”.
He spent most, if not all, of his time in his bedroom playing videogames.
He has had two jobs during his time in Australia. He was a pizza delivery driver (he did not drive) because his father pulled some strings and got him the job. He quit when school became too much and he could not continue it. He also worked in an animal shelter (volunteer) solely to pet cats and look after the animals. However, he quit that two days in when he realized that he would see animals in distress and this made him upset.
He was a Prefect and Head Boy in high school, positions that he enjoyed and did not abuse. He used them to benefit himself and other students.
Moving to Los Santos[]
On his eighteenth birthday, Cayden had a long conversation with his parents about expanding his horizons. He wanted to explore the world, experience different cultures, and maybe start a new life away from Australia. Of course, he parents did not enjoy the idea and stated that eighteen was far too young to leave home, despite the fact some of his friends had left home at that age.
He managed to convince them and set sail for America almost instantly, all his belongings mostly remaining behind. While his parents did pay for the idea, he told them that he would find stable work soon and be able to pay his own way before they could even remember he was gone.
It had been a teary farewell, not that he would ever admit such things, and the boat ride was one of despondency and deep thought rather than partying as others were doing.
Physical Appearance[]
Cayden often wears a very weird mixture of clothing styles, usually blending them together to create monstrosities or create a fashion faux pas. However, no matter the outfit in question, pink is most often the primary colour, unless the outfit in question cannot have the colour (uniforms). He is most frequently seen wearing a pink hoodie, black suit pants, and a pair of pink high-tops. Most of the time, he is seen running around barefoot and in boxers.
He is described as being somewhat youthful or young, which he, surprisingly so, is. Despite his ‘twink’ appearance, he claims to be a bad boy and, with any attempt to stand out, has often retreated back into his standard attire and style. Getting a closer look at his face reveals small amounts of makeup, mostly on the cheeks and around the eyes. Although, he will refuse such things and claim he does not wear make-up at all. Period.
For a long time, he would dye his hair at the start of each week to the first colour that someone said. However, hair damage aside, it became too expensive to maintain and he left his hair pink and keeps it as such unless he needs to dye it for some reason. The style itself is simple and rests messily over his forehead.
Employment[]
Cayden became interested in the Emergency Medical Services shortly after he was injured and had a fantastic experience with the person who came to help him. They ended up speaking for around ten minutes and that spurred on his desire to help citizens with any issues they may have.
He began volunteering shortly after when he realized that there were very little EMS personal around when he was. It was more of a spur of the moment choice as he had just applied to be a Dispatcher with the Los Santos Police Dispatch. He later turned down the position when he realized that he wanted to be an EMS more than anything else in the city. He then began volunteering and doing ride-alongs more frequently, learning something new each day and each attempt at volunteering.
His goal is to eventually help teach other people interested in becoming an EMS the ropes and help them get a foot into the proverbial door. His current ambition is to become a Paramedic FTO so that he can train any new people that become trainees. However, it is a passive ambition and his sole ambition was to be cleared for solo duty, which he achieved.
