Description[]
Abandoned by his mother, Carlo was forced to take care of his sister and grow up at a young age. He grew to be protective and caring. He will risk his own life for those he allows into his heart, but this is also his weakness. If others start to get too close to him, he may close up and not let them in. He's the product of built-up anger and sadness that he longs to get out, but just can’t. Over the course of his lifetime, this has created anxiety in him that comes out when he least expects it.
Carlo endured a poor lifestyle with his father and younger sister, Natalie, always wondering why his mother abandoned the family. To this day, he still does not know why. Carlo's father worked night shifts at the local hospital as a nurse. At age 16, Carlo got a job making minimum wage at a car dealership to help his sister, who was now 14, and his father who later fell sick and within 2 years passed away.
Carlo's education suffered as he balanced his job, caring for his sister and, sadly, he was unable to keep up with his school assignments as they slipped down his priority list. With no parents and his many obligations, soon his sister Natalie also began to fall behind in school. When this happened, the school investigated and soon found that home was no longer a stable place for her. She was placed in the foster care system in order to attempt to provide her with stability. This broke Carlo’s heart, because she was the only person he really had in his life. His sister unfortunately fell down the rabbit hole of drugs and crime. He tried his best year after year to help her, but nothing seemed to work.
Sadly on October 1st when Carlo was 20 he learned that his sister had been brutally murdered, though he never actually saw her body. She was not just killed; she was tortured, and her body was left out to the animals. The police concluded that the crime was related to recent crimes regarding drug cartels. The murderer was never found. Carlo spent day in and day out trying to find information about who was behind this.
Shortly before the economic collapse, he revealed to Luciano and Eve that he was previously married. A "memory" was described where Carlo and his wife were out partying. Carlo drove after leaving a club, resulting in an accident that killed his wife but left him with only minor bumps and bruises. He described his regret and made plans to return to Chicago. Little is known about what happened to him during the 5 years he spent out of Los Santos.
Upon his return to Los Santos, Carlo maintained a relationship with Fiona Stewart, becoming the adoptive father of her children, Yuno Sykk and Burt Beans, and adopting a daughter of his own, Raia Kane. Unfortunately, the relationship was doomed and the two decided to go their separate ways in early March of 2024. Their children, hurt and confused, decided to attempt a "parent trap" and kidnapped them. Not knowing that the two were happier and healthier apart, the kids, led by Yuno Sykk, lured their parents to the pier, where they planned to steal their phones and ocean dump them. This plan went along as planned, with Yuno and Raia sending messages back and forth between the stolen phones, indicating that the two had made up and gotten back together. Unfortunately, before they could finish the plan, Yuno decided to "villain monologue" and revealed the entire plan. Fiona dove off the pier and swam to safety, closely followed by Gloryon (Burt Beans).
Carlo seemed to have a better understanding of the kids' intentions and feelings, perhaps stemming from his own experience of losing his family. He didn't blame them and quickly let them know that he was still there for them. He quickly moved to legally adopt Raia, at a cost of $10,000, and told Yuno that he would also like to formally adopt him (at a second-child cost of $20,000). After the confusion and still with highly charged emotions after Fiona's escape and the subsequent trouble it caused, Yuno asked for a couple of days to make a decision. Carlo understood and told Yuno that no matter what, he will still consider Yuno his kid and part of his family unit with Raia.
