Background[]
Ava was born on April 22th, 1997 to Victoria James-Deveraux and Kang-Jun Deveraux in Long Island, New York. Victoria emigrated to the United States from Trinidad and Kang-Jun emigrated from South Korea. Ava's childhood was extremely privileged. Victoria was an accomplished attorney and Kang-Jun was revered cardiologist. Ava was exposed to the cultures that made her by being taught about and exposed to her Caribbean and Korean heritage by visiting Trinidad and Korea often and eating traditional foods and recognizing cultural practices. Ava was not really taught her French history because her paternal grandfather abandoned his family in Korea when her father was ten years old and moved back to France. Although he sent money to support them the betrayal ran deep for her father and he never forgave his father and was driven to be exceptional to make him a son his father would regret leaving. Victoria lost both her parents when she was in her teens. Her sisters were content in Trinidad but Victoria always wanted a life in America, specifically New York or Los Angeles. Her parents met when Kang-Jun rolled his ankle playing football in Central Park and Victoria was the doctor on duty in the ER when his friends brought him in. When Ava was eleven years old she lost her parents when their car was hit by a drunk driver and sent into a ravine where she was trapped for four days with her deceased parents. Ava almost died and then she was sent to live with her uncle, Kim Joon Deveraux, who allowed his seething jealousy for his late estranged brother to be taken out on his orphaned daughter. Instead of protecting his niece he was someone she needed protection from...but never was. As soon as she turned eighteen she moved into an off-campus apartment, as she got a full scholarship to New York University. Ava graduated early and went to medical school in a accelerated program.
After working as an ER doctor for a few years a friend suggested she relocate to Los Santos and make a fresh start. Ava left New York and within the first few days in Los Santos she met Garion Noble and became engaged to him eight days after they met and legally marrying six months later. Her professional careers took off and she was successful beyond her greatest expectations as a: Doctor, Digital Den Salesperson, Mechanic at Hayes, General Manager of UwU Cafe and COO of RHL.
Ava left Los Santos after Garion went to prison and the financial collapse made staying impossible. Ava made arrangements for Garion to be transferred from Bolingbroke to a prison in upstate New York, so she could visit him. As the bank in Los Santos was not FDIC insured all her savings were lost. She sold her cars and homes for MUCH less than their worth, almost nothing but the alternative would've been literally nothing. So, that money was used up setting up life in New York again and making sure Garion's commissary was always flush. Ava's has been working as a doctor and with Garion being released from prison they received word that Los Santos was opening its borders after five years and encouraging former citizens to return. Garion convinced her to return as it was where they met, fell in love, married and started their life together. Ava agreed and sadly, left their dogs Max, Morphy and Mycene with a friend who has a lot of land in Long Island.
Personality[]
Ava is a very strong and direct person. She is Autistic (specifically Asperger's) and this impacts her ability to communicate with others. She takes things literally. Things are black or white and "shades of grey" don't make sense to her. There is no such thing as "reading the room" and jokes, sarcasm, inuendo, etc. are usually lost on her. She is also very confrontational. If there is an issue, she addresses it immediately and doesn't understand someone talking about her to others but not to her directly. Because of this Ava is often misunderstood and judged. She says thing factually, with no malicious intent, and moves on. However, others can perceive her delivery as cold, short, rude, insensitive and the like. Ava is extremely loyal and fiercely protective of her friends and family. She has been through a lot of traumas in her life and has perfected a persona of someone not to be messed with. However, that image is mainly meant to be a deterrent to make people back off. Like a barking dog. In reality, she is an extremely damaged person that has a ton of fears and insecurities but only people close to her know that. She is a ridiculously hard worker mainly because she does not like to be dependent on anyone. She never wants to be in a position where things can be taken from her. She learned early in life that being self sufficient makes it harder for others to control you. She knows what is to need help and not get it so she tries to help people when she can and that has caused her to be used, so she is very guarded when it comes to letting people in.
