Personality[]
Annie is a morally gray character who has often been referred to as "nice" because she chooses to do good things and is extremely loyal to the people she cares about. Underneath her nice exterior, she believes that the laws of humanity exist outside of their true nature and often says, "you don't blame the lion for hunting the lamb". She has a deep understanding of human nature and as long as she can rationalize why someone has chosen to do something, she will defend their choice to do it - even if it hurts her. It is only irrational behavior with no purpose that she finds difficult to accept.
As Annie spends more time in the city, she is shifting from defending the bad things other people do to making the choice to do bad things on her own. If she can justify it and thinks it needs to be done, she'll do it, especially if it is to defend her loved ones.
Background[]
Annie Omen was born in a small town in North Carolina. She attended college in Florida where she studied Anthropology and worked part-time for a theme park but ultimately did not finish her degree. After she dropped out of college, she moved back to her home town and began preparing to take over the family diner from her mother, with whom she was extremely close.
Her mother died a month before her 26th birthday when the family diner mysteriously caught fire late in the night. After her mother's death, Annie learned she had been completely written out of her mother's will and all of her family's property would pass on to her stepfather and stepbrother instead. When she approached her stepfather and made her intention to fight the will known, he implied that he had murdered her mother and would frame Annie for it if she didn't give up and leave town.
Annie left and moved to Los Santos.
Early Days in the City[]
Annie was hired at UwU Cafe on her first day in Los Santos and spent most of her early time in the city working and getting to know other employees.
One day after her friend was ocean dumped and there were no doctors available to take care of him, Annie saw a twat from Jeffy Coldiron advertising that LSMG was hiring doctors and decided to apply. She was accepted to the intern program and was promoted to resident in less than a month.
After he facilitated her hiring at LSMG, Annie grew extremely close with Jeffy and considered him to be her best friend.
Life in Los Santos[]
Around the time Annie was hired to LSMG, she met and began seeing Corey Graves. Their relationship was complicated for many reasons and because of his connection to Echo Gray, Annie was quickly swept up in a series of dramatic events. Annie would leave Corey and begin officially dating Echo on August 6th, 2023.
Annie took a break from her job as a resident with LSMG after she lost her first patient Rose Rhodes on the operating table. At the same time, her life was threatened by Emerson Laurier due to her connection with Echo and she was forced to go into hiding for several weeks, which extended her absence.
While Annie and Echo were planning a vacation, Echo was kidnapped by Corey and held hostage for four days. During the time he was holding her hostage, Corey feigned innocence and pretended to help Annie and her friends try to locate her. He shot her and left her unconscious on a beach where Annie and Wade Wilson found her. Annie treated her at Sandy Shores Medical Center and she suffered no longer term damage.
Weeks later, Echo confronted Corey and told him she planned to marry Annie. This time, Corey shot her in the head and left her for dead. Echo survived the injury but suffered extreme memory loss that resulted in her forgetting Annie (and most of the people in her life) entirely. Annie devoted herself to taking care of Echo and neglected the other relationships in her life, including her best friend Jeffy.
After an incident involving Echo and Wade threatening Basil Barbera at Annie's request, Jeffy in turn threatened Echo's life. He asked Annie to speak with him about it and they met at Forever Inked, where they had a talk that ended with Jeffy insulting and screaming at Annie before he walked out. Unknown to Annie at the time, Echo and Wade were communicating over radio and Echo gave him the green light to kill Jeffy - something she never would have done if she had not suffered memory loss. Echo told Annie what was happening and Annie called Wade to ask him not to do it but, due to Wade and Jeffy's history, Wade refused to listen to her. Jeffy was shot outside of his home and would later succumb to his injuries, devastating Annie and complicating her relationship with Wade.
Shortly after Jeffy's death, Annie resigned from Los Santos Medical Group both because people assumed she was involved in his murder and because she couldn't bear the thought of returning to the hospital without him.
While Annie was mourning the loss of her best friend, Echo began experiencing worrying shifts in her memory that would make day-to-day life complicated for Annie and everyone around her. As a result of the trauma and pressure, Annie began experiencing episodes of dissociation and started participating in activities that she otherwise would have been morally opposed to as a strict civilian.
Around the time that Echo's memory began to stabilize, Wade was contacted by Eryn Carter and offered a plea deal for Jeffy's murder in exchange for Annie and Echo's freedom. He accepted it but asked his friends not to have any life changing events while he was locked away. Faced with the fact that it would be 15 years before she could propose, Echo abandoned her plans to give Annie a traditional proposal and asked Annie to marry her with Wade and their other close friends around to witness. They were officially engaged on October 6th, 2023.
