Alberl Jonie is a character role-played by professor_alexion.
General Description[]
Alberl Jonie is a clever, but oftentimes cruel man who seems to delight in causing distress or harm to others. He is known to say that he views life as a game, and that our purpose in life is to find enjoyment in what we do. Unfortunately for the city of Los Santos, Alberl finds enjoyment in tormenting others, and goading his victims into committing violent and chaotic acts against other residents and the city.
Personality[]
Alberl is a twitchy man. Often seen circling people he's having conversations with, or else walking in a circle in front of them. Speaking to him, usually, he has a tendency to repeat words or phrases multiple times in a row, and speak at a quick pace. However, it is unknown if this is how he talks or an act put on, as in conversations where everyone involved know about his double life, these mannerisms disappear.
Further evidence that his twitchy persona is just an act can be seen in how his personality shifts depending on if he's "in character" as Alberl or "out of character" as Edward. When "in character", he's more prone to avoid conflict, often removing himself from situations entirely if things become heated, and often avoids interactions with large groups or people outwardly aggressive. While, "out of character" as Edward, he's much more confident and combative, to the point where when Shelly and Olivia kidnapped him to try to stop him, he seemed to be the most comfortable one in the car despite being their hostage.
Background[]
Not much is known about Alberl's formative years. He has alluded to a troubled childhood, losing his cool when an officer made a crack that he must have been beaten by his parents, telling anyone who asks (and even those who don't) that his name was supposed to be Albert, but his dad was drunk when filling out the Birth Certificate, and that there was a three year period that he assumed he was seven years old because nobody had told him differently. It is unknown how much of this (if any of it) is true.
He has also referenced on occasion that the song he sings to his victims, "You Are My Sunshine", was often sung to him by his mother as a child.
Beyond that, Alberl has referenced moving around often, claiming that he's lived in every state in America at one point or another.
Ciphers Used[]
So far, Alberl has used the following ciphers in his letters to Burger Shot or to the Citizens of Los Santos:
- Alphabet Scramble/Substitution Cipher - Most frequently used cipher as he uses this one often to leave hints on how to solve his other ciphers. The cipher seems to be derived from how he altered his name, as decoding "Alberl Jonie" using it reveals what Alberl claims is his real name, "Edward Nygma".
- Vignére Cipher - Used once in a taunting letter to Burger Shot using his "real name" as the Key.
Connections[]
- Shelly Smith: The Assistant Manager at Burger Shot. Despite chasing Alberl and trying to stop him, the two often can seem as much friends as they are enemies. They have each others' number, and often contact the other for hints and taunting. Shelly was one of the first Los Santos residents to begin decoding Alberl's letters, which led to him seeing her as a fellow game player. He's currently hell bent on bringing her inner darkness out into the open.
- Olivia Harvey: Called "Blue-Haired Girl" by Alberl. Very antagonistic to Alberl, and for good reason. After the stabbing of Trina, she laid a trap for Alberl which culminated with her throwing him off a waterfall and shooting him. She has since disguised herself as a new citizen and lured him back to the waterfall to try to bait him into killing.
- La Flare (No Last Name Available): Contacted Alberl one day to run Oxy with. Since then, the two have made contact once or twice to do more jobs.
- Brendan (No Last Name Available): Met Alberl doing Store Deliveries one day. In their conversations, Brendan told Alberl that he was doing research on crime for a novel. Alberl gave him Shelly's number to contact, and told him to ask Shelly about "The Tower". The two have since met up to go fishing.
Known Victims[]
- Betty-Joe Green: A young woman who met Alberl on her first day in the city. She posted on Twatter that she needed to be shown around. Alberl convinced her to go fishing, and when they got to the lake, Alberl stabbed her and threw her off the boat.
- Trina Bergström: A young woman who met Alberl on her first day in the city. She posted on Twatter that she needed some help getting started in the city. Alberl brought her on a tour. First to Hayes, he taught her how to lockpick cars. Then, he showed her how to do Break-Ins, after which he stabbed and robbed her.
- Joy (no last name given): The first stabbing where Alberl left a calling card. Alberl kidnapped her from the apartments, and brought her deep into southside to play a game. Joy lost the game. As Alberl prepared to stab her, she ran off. Alberl elected not to chase her, but later stumbled upon her randomly near Burger Shot. He stabbed her, and left behind his calling card.
- Reginald Copper-Pauper: During a Hurricane, Alberl saw Reginald hobbling across the street to the Burger Shot. Alberl forced him into the car at gunpoint. He brought Reginald to a secluded location, and robbed Reginald of 2 Lockpicks, a Colt, a Mobile Phone, and $44. Alberl made him get back in the car and brought him to a secondary secluded location, where he played his game with Reginald. Reginald lost the game, so Alberl stabbed him repeatedly until he was downed. Alberl left behind a calling card.
- Shazza (No Last Name Given) - The first person to play Alberl's game and win. He forced her into the car at gunpoint at the Rooster's Rest, where she was waiting for a friend. He brought her to a dirt road north of town and played his game with her. She got 2/3 of his riddles correct, so he told her she could either have her money back (a sum of around $150), or have her gun and phone back. She chose to get her items back, and he gave them to her before leaving her stranded.
- Noelle (No last name Given) - Alberl tricked her into his car claiming that he'd give her a ride to a clothing store so that she may buy a yoga outfit. Despite this, he took her first to the Vinewood Bowl, then seeing many people around, La Fuenta Blanca. There, he played his game with her. Having lost, Alberl stabbed her and left her for dead.
- James Anthony - Not much is known about what happened between Alberl and James, but Alberl placed one of his calling cards with James' blood on it at the scene of his fake crime. How he got the blood is yet to be revealed.
- Alberl Jonie - One day, having a mission in mind, and wanting to get information on what the cops know about him so far, Alberl went to La Fuenta Blanca, laid out a cipher and a bloody calling card (blood from James Anthony), and played like he was a victim of The Tower. When EMS responded to the scene, they called police to look at the scene. Deputy Dukakis responded and interviewed Alberl about what happened.
